What Is a Dunk Tank?

A dunk tank is a classic event game built around one simple challenge. One eligible participant takes a seat over a large tank of water while another guest stands at the throwing line and aims for the target. If the throw hits the target, the seat releases and the person drops into the water.

It is simple to follow, exciting to watch and gives the whole group a reason to gather around. You may also hear it called a dunking booth, but the goal is the same: take your best shot and see who makes the splash.

1 Sit Above the Water
2 Throw at the Target
3 Hit It & Make a Splash

Why Dunk Tanks Are a Hit at Group Events

A dunk tank gives guests something they can join, watch and laugh about together.

Easy for Guests to Use and Enjoy

Most guests know what to do as soon as they see a dunk tank. They can take a turn, cheer for their friends and enjoy the fun even while they wait.

Fun for Participants and Spectators

The person throwing, the volunteer on the seat and the crowd waiting for the splash all become part of the moment.

A Memorable Fundraising Activity

Schools, churches and community groups can include throws as part of a fundraiser, especially when a familiar teacher, coach or leader volunteers for the tank.

Who Can Sit in the Dunk Tank?

Guests can enjoy taking turns at the target, but the person sitting above the water must meet the safety requirements for the tank.

  • Must know how to swim
  • Must be at least 5 feet tall
  • Must weigh 250 pounds or less

Water and Filling Time

Please provide a working water connection and a garden hose that reaches the setup area. Plan approximately 30–45 minutes for the tank to fill.

Suitable Setup Surfaces

We can set up on grass, artificial turf or concrete. Dirt, gravel, rocks and other uneven surfaces are not suitable for the tank.

Pickup-Truck Access

Our pickup truck needs enough room to deliver the equipment. Please tell us ahead of time about narrow gates, tight turns or other access concerns.
